Brackendale
The Squamish Valley Hop Company settled in the Brackendale area in the late 1800’s to build a flourishing hops business, to be sold around the world to make fine beer. Since that time, the most northerly hamlet of Squamish has maintained its micro community charm, with most properties located within walking distance of the local café, restaurants, post office & general store, and local bike shop.
Brackendale Elementary School and Don Ross Middle School are located in this neck of the woods. The riverside beach, aptly named ‘Fisherman’s Park’, is a favourite picnic spot, and an extensive trail network weaves its way through the landscape. Every fall, Brackendale plays host to the ‘Brackendale Fall Fair’…a welcoming, family-friendly event that features hay rides, local market vendors, and the local’s favourite ‘zucchini races’. Watch for an impressive number of wintering bald eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) that congregate along the Squamish River, with the most raptors spotted from November to January.
